Privacy policy
The short version
- You don't create an account with us, and our games don't ask you to enter your name, email address or other personal details.
- To play, you need an account with the store or platform you got the game from (Google Play, Microsoft Store and Xbox, or Steam). Our games use that account for features like achievements, leaderboards, cloud saves and online multiplayer. The platform manages your account, and we don't keep your account information.
- If you play online, other players can see your display name.
- We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't use it for advertising.
- If you email us, we use your message only to reply to you.
- Our games are made with the Unity engine, and multiplayer games may use Epic Online Services. Unity and Epic may collect technical information from your device under their own privacy policies.
- Anything a specific game does differently is listed in game-specific details.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to the games published by Psychotic Lab ("we", "us", "our") on Google Play, the Microsoft Store (Windows and Xbox), Steam and other stores (together, "the games"), and to this website. It explains what information is collected, how it's used, and the choices you have.
2. Information we collect
- Information you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and any attachments you include.
- Your platform account. You need an account with the store or platform you got the game from. Our games use that account through the platform's game services (the Xbox network, formerly Xbox Live; Google Play Games Services; or Steamworks) for features such as achievements, leaderboards, cloud saves and online multiplayer. To do this, a game may access your platform display name (like your gamertag or Steam name), a player ID, your progress and scores in the game, and, for multiplayer, your friends list so you can invite friends. The platform handles this under its own privacy policy (see Stores and platforms). You don't create a separate account with us, and we don't keep your account information.
- Information the games collect. Unless a game's entry in game-specific details says otherwise, the games don't collect, store or send any personal information to us. Unity, and Epic Online Services in multiplayer games, may collect some technical information for their own services; see third-party services.
- Online play. When you play online, other players can see your display name. The services that run the match (your platform or Epic Online Services) process your IP address and connection details to connect you with other players. If a game has text or voice chat, your messages go through those services and can be seen or heard by the players you're chatting with.
- Data stored on your device. Games may save your settings and progress on your device. This data stays on your device and we can't see it. Your platform may back it up or sync it (for example Android backup, Xbox cloud saves or Steam Cloud); that is covered by the platform's own privacy policy.
- Device permissions. If a game asks for a permission, such as notifications, it uses it only for the feature that needs it. Each game's permissions are listed in game-specific details.
3. Stores and platforms
You get the games through stores run by other companies. The store or platform, not us, handles your account, payments, downloads and game services like achievements, leaderboards, cloud saves and multiplayer, under its own privacy policy:
- Google Play: Google Privacy Policy
- Microsoft Store and Xbox: Microsoft Privacy Statement
- Steam: Valve Privacy Policy
- Apple App Store: Apple Privacy Policy
The stores give us some information about how the games are doing, such as install and sales totals, ratings, and crash reports that include details like your device model and operating system version, but not your name or contact details. We use this only to fix problems and improve the games.
4. Third-party services
Unity
Our games are made with the Unity game engine from Unity Technologies. When you play, Unity may collect information from your device, such as your IP address, device identifiers, device details and play session information, depending on which Unity services a game uses. Unity handles this information as a separate company, under a privacy policy written for players of games made with Unity:
- Unity Game Player and App User Privacy Policy (includes how to contact Unity about your data)
- Unity Game Player and App User Privacy FAQ
Epic Online Services
Some of our multiplayer games may use Epic Online Services (EOS) from Epic Games to run online features such as matchmaking, lobbies and connecting players. EOS links to the platform account you already use. To provide these features, Epic may process information such as your IP address, an EOS player ID, your platform account ID and display name, and device details. Epic handles this information as a separate company under its own privacy policy, which also explains how to contact Epic about your data:
Each game's entry under game-specific details says whether it uses EOS.
Other services
If a game uses a service from another company, such as for ads, analytics or crash reporting, that service is named in the game's entry under game-specific details, with a link to its privacy policy. Those companies handle data under their own policies.
5. How we use information
- To reply to your messages and give you support
- To find and fix bugs and improve the games
- To meet legal obligations
6. Sharing
We don't sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only if the law requires us to, or if it's needed to protect the rights and safety of our players or ourselves.
7. How long we keep it
We keep support emails for as long as we need them to help you and handle any follow-up, and then delete them. You can ask us to delete them sooner at any time.
8. Your rights and deleting your data
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to object to how it's used. You can do any of these by emailing psychoticlab@gmail.com.
To delete your data: email psychoticlab@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my data", from the address you contacted us with. We'll delete what we have and confirm by email within 30 days. Uninstalling a game removes the data it stored on your device. Your platform account, and anything linked to it such as achievements, leaderboard scores and cloud saves, is kept by the platform and can be managed or deleted through it. Unity and Epic explain how to manage or delete the data they hold in their own privacy policies (see third-party services).
9. Children
The games are not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age where you live) unless a game's entry below says otherwise, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
10. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, such as keeping support email in a secured account. No method of sending or storing data is completely secure, but we do our best to keep your information safe.
11. This website
This website doesn't use cookies, analytics, ads, or third-party scripts or fonts. It's hosted on GitHub Pages, and GitHub may collect technical information such as your IP address when you visit, for security and to keep the service running. See the GitHub General Privacy Statement.
12. Game-specific details
Anything a specific game does beyond the general policy above is listed here. No games have been released yet.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date at the top.
